Summary: The new Wavelet Digest is alive and well. The WEB interface has been re-designed and the old issues re-organized. You can contribute to its revival by sending your submission.

Dear Wavelet Readers,

I am happy to report that the new Wavelet Digest (WD) is alive and well, and that the final stages of its transfer to the site at the EPFL have been completed. The ultimate test, of course, was sending out the newsletter to over 25,000 e-mail addresses---a most memorable, albeit stressful, experience. Fortunately, the new wavelet server performed flawlessly, handling all Internet traffic and bounced packets seamlessly.

The comments and feedback that we've received have been extremely positive, and the site has been averaging approximately 500 visitors per day. We are working hard to revitalize www.wavelet.org, to make it more useful to researchers. We have begun by reorganizing the back issues, subdividing them into individual items. This database can now be searched, and it is easier than ever to retrieve information. Please try it at: http://www.wavelet.org/phpBB2/search.php A good part of the history of the field is there at your fingertips. We are now working to enhance the database even further by incorporating bibliographic data (references and abstracts of published wavelet papers) provided by authors.

The person to thank for the WD's new interface is Dimitri Van de Ville. He did an outstanding job, modernizing the system and implementing our suggestions. You can rest assured the WD is in good hands and that its long-term survival is guaranteed.

The best way to increase the impact of the Wavelet Digest is to make it as complete and up-to-date as possible. I therefore encourage you to use our new web interface to submit your latest wavelet-related reprints, theses, conferences, etc. Not only will you contribute to creating this unique inter-disciplinary resource, but you will also make your work more visible to the community.

With best regards,
Michael Unser
