#13 Job: PhD student position at EPFL in Switserland

Ph.D. STUDENT POSITION for the Signal Processing Laboratory (LTS) of
the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland

The LTS EPFL Speech Processing Group offers a Ph.D. student position
for research in robust speaker recognition. This 3-year position is
funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

The work consists of adapting Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based
text-dependent and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) based text-independent
speaker verification in securized interactive man-machine voice
communication systems to real acoustical and environmental conditions.
More specifically, the emphasis of the research will be placed on the
combination of multiresolution wavelet packet analysis and the new
approaches in feature extraction and stochastic model compensation.

This position must be filled as soon as possible. The candidate, with
a university degree, should be able to work independently and to
interact with the existing research team. Candidates are expected to
have good knowledge of digital signal processing, particularly in the
domain of speech processing, and have a sound experience in
programming. Because this position involves regular contacts in the
framework of European projects, a working knowledge of English and
French is required.

Interested candidates are invited to send a CV as soon as possible to:

Kind regards,

Dr. Andrzej Drygajlo
