#23 Question: Wavelets in applied density estimation?

Hello,

I was wondering if wavelets have been so far applied to density
estimation and if so, whether cross-validation and Bayesian
approaches, such as minimum description length and entropy-based
criteria, have been used for tuning the complexity of such estimators.
Pointers are welcome.

Additionally, I would appreciate it if anybody could give pointers to
possible applications of wavelet-based density estimators in
real-world classification problems. How do such estimators compare
with popular approaches such as Parzen window estimators? What are
their strengths and weaknesses?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Ali
