#8 Preprint: Adaptive thresholding via Bayes theorem

A Bayes estimator is derived with a maximum entropy prior for the
'signal' to be estimated. The result is a soft threshold operator.
The thresholding parameter is shown to be related to the odds of a
'signal' occuring and from this an adaptive thresholding rule is
derived. The algorithm is presented in the context of filtering
seismic event signals, numerous examples are given.
