#11 Software: Wavelet and Filter Bank Design Software

1. A limited version of the Wavelet and Filter Bank Design Toolkit is
available in the National Instruments ftp site.

>ftp ftp.natinst.com
>id anonymous
>pw (your email address)
>cd incoming
>binary
>get WaveTool.zip
>pkunzip -d WaveTool.zip

ftp://ftp.natinst.com/WaveTool.zip

The decompressed "WaveTool.zip" contains five install disks. The
software runs for all PC operating systems (Win3.1, Win95, and WinNT).
The design procedure is as follows.

[1] Select a filter P(z), a product of analysis and synthesis lowpass
filters. P(z) can be either maximum flat or equi-ripple.

[2] Factor P(z) into lowpass analysis and synthesis filters and
compute highpass filters. The selections of filter banks include:
orthogonal or biorthogonal, minimum phase or linear phase...

The theoretical background can be found in

* G. Strang and T. Nguyen, "Wavelets and Filter Banks",
Wellesley-Cambridge Press, 1995
* S. Qian and D. Chen, "Joint Time-Frequency Analysis,"
Prentice-Hall, 1996

2. Joint Time-Frequency Analysis For PC Matlab
Some linear as well as bilinear time-frequency analysis functions for
PC Matlab (ver.4.2 or above) is available on the National Instruments
ftp site.

>get TFmatlab.zip
