#9 Preprint: Colour Texture Classification

Dear Waveleteers,

I am active in the field of texture analysis, using our beloved wavelet
decompositions. I would like to make the following paper available; it is
(among some other stuff) downloadable from my home page

http://www.ruca.ua.ac.be/~VisionLab/wouwer/welcome.html

Any comments our questions are appreciated.

Best regards

"Colour Texture Classification by Wavelet Energy-Correlation Signatures"
G. Van de Wouwer et al.

Abstract

While grey-level texture has extensively been studied, work on colour
texture is rather sparse. We propose a scheme for the classification
of coloured texture images based on features extracted from a
multiscale representation. We introduce wavelet energy-correlation
signatures and we will derive the transformation of these signatures
upon linear colour space transformations. Experiments are conducted
on a set of 16 natural coloured texture images in which colour and
grey-level texture classification performance are compared. It is
demonstrated that the energy-correlation features contain more
information than the intensity or the energy features of each colour
plane separately. Classification performance is evaluated in several
colour spaces.
