#2 Book: A mathematical introduction to wavelets

I would like to announce a new book on wavelets

A mathematical introduction to wavelets
P. Wojtaszczyk

which was published by Cambridge University Press as vol. 37 in the
series London Mathematical Society Students Texts.

The book presents the theory of orthogonal wavelets in one and several
variables and their application to analysis of important function
spaces. Subjects treated include: multiresolution analyses and
construction of wavelets, Mayer's wavelets, spline wavelets, compactly
supported wavelets, unimodular wavelets and periodic wavelets. Theory
of multivariable wavelets connected with general matrix dilations is
presented and examples of Haar-like and smooth wavelets are presented
in such generality. It contains a self-contained discussion of
unconditional bases, L-p, H_1 and Besov spaces. The characterisations
of those spaces using wavelet coefficients is presented in detail.
The book is aimed at senior undergraduate or beginning graduate
students in mathematics. It contains well over hundred exercises. It
should be useful to any mathematician who wants to learn about
orthogonal wavelets.
