Contest: Handbook of Wavelet Transform Algorithms

The Handbook of Wavelet Transform Algorithms will include a collection
of representative applications intended to demonstrate a wide
diversity of fields ranging from astronomy to zoology, medicine to
mathematics, engineering to finance, etc.

If you wish to contribute a data set, wavelet transform algorithm, or
wavelet filter algorithm, for an application that you have described
in an associated preprint or reprint and if it is chosen for display
and/or discussion in the Handbook, you will of course be properly
cited with a complete reference for your paper.

Special consideration will be given to important, unique and/or
unusual applications with data sets resulting in interesting and/or
visually attractive wavelet transform plots and images. Special
consideration will also be given to submissions featuring large
experimental studies, ie, extensive investigations of real data from
practical real-world applications.

However, to further encourage your contributions, Birkhauser Boston and WavBox ToolSmiths are sponsoring a contest with prizes as

1. Authors of contributions selected for display of data sets with
graphical figures in the book will be entered in a pool for random
drawing of winners of free copies of the current version of WavBox
Software. If the contributor already has a license for WavBox
Software, the license will be extended with free upgrades.

2. Authors of contributions selected for mention in the text will be
entered in a pool for random drawing of winners of $100 gift
certificates for books from Birkhauser Boston.

3. Authors of all other contributions will be entered in a pool for
random drawing of winners of free copies of the Handbook of Wavelet
Transform Algorithms.

4. In each of the three categories, three prizes will be awarded.

Here are some general comments and rules for this contest:

1. Contributors must grant permission to use their data set and/or
figure in the book and on a CD-ROM which may be packaged with the book
at some future time.

2. Contributors who would also like to submit working software should
describe the nature of the software and their preferences regarding
licensing and redistribution as freeware or shareware on the CD-ROM.

2. Submissions may be on any application of any wavelet transform and
should be sent to WavBox ToolSmiths by May 30. Double-sided
photocopies of papers with data sets and/or software on floppy disks
(MS Windows or Apple Macintosh) should be sent to the address below.

3. Use of WavBox Software is NOT required. However, utilities,
applications, and graphical user interfaces based on any of the
versions of WavBox Software will be most welcome.
