Postgraduate Research Studentship

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for a sponsored
research studentship for Ph.D. studies in the School of Electronic
and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath. The studentship,
which is sponsored jointly by the University and Motorola Limited, will
cover tuition fees at home student rate (UKL 2430 p.a.), training support
grant at SERC rate (UKL 600 p.a.) and subsistence (UKL 5050 p.a.) for a
period of three years.

The research project will involve analysis of wavelet compression
algorithms for VLSI implementation, with particular emphasis upon
image and video compression. Candidates must have a first or upper
second class degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related
field, and should have some knowledge of VLSI.
