of allowing a cross-fertilization of ideas withinthe goals of this new COST
action, promoting in this way the discussion aroundthe topics involved from

Prof. S. Haykin (McMaster Univ., Canada)
Prof. L. Griffihts (Univ. of South California, USA)
Prof. S. Kunt (Princeton Univ., USA)
Prof. I. Sandberg (Univ. of Texas at Austin, USA)
Prof. S. Verdu (Princeton Univ., USA)

There are five main areas for contributed papers:

I.- Adaptive Systems in Communications
- Echo Cancellation, Equalization
- Channel Modeling and Conditioning
- Adaptive Arrays

II.- Intelligent Approaches to Signal Processing and Communications
- Neural Networks and Knowledge-Based Methods for Speech and
Image Processing
- Source and Channel Coding

III.- Emerging Techniques in Signal Processing and Communications
- Chaos and Fractals
- Natural Algorithms: Genetic, Evolutionary, Simulated Annealing
- Time-Frequency Methods; Wavelets
- Higher-Order Statistics
- Non-Linear Modeling

IV.- Applications
- Provision of Telecommunication Services
- Intelligent Networks
- Communication Terminals: Architectures and Facilities

V.- Implementations
- Software Environments for DSP and Communications
- Hardware Implementations
- Communication Terminals: Software and Hardware

Prospective authors are encouraged to submit three copies of an extended
abstract (3 pages, including author's affiliation, address, phone, fax number,
and e-mail), to be received before April 1, 1996, to

Prof. F. Perez-Gonzalez
