Question : Wavelet Series vs. Continuous Wavelet Transform ?

Dear Waveletters

Background
I am an engineering graduate using wavelet theory to
analyse (chaotic) attractors of dynamical systems. I have
been trying this using the Multi-Resolution Algorithm and the
Wavelet Series as opposed to the Continuous Wavelet transform.
I have read most of the literature up to 1992 on wavelets and
fractals and am aquainted with as much as I can understand of the
work by Meyer, Daubechies, Grossman and Mallat.

I have two questions for you:
1/ Are you doing (or do you know anybody who has done) something
along these lines?
2/ Does anybody know of a publication that compares and contrasts the
use of the Wavelet series versus the Continuous Wavelet transform
in language that a layman like me can understand?
