Wavelet Transform: Techniques and Applications
UCLA Extension Engineering Short Course
August 9-11, 1993

This three-day course offers an introduction to the wavelet transform,
with specific emphasis on advanced adaptive wavelet techniques and
current applications to areas such as nonlinear problems (soliton
wavelets), image compression for fingerprints and B-ISDN, virtual
reality, and wavelet chips combined with neurochips.

The instructors are Dr. Harold Szu, President of the International
Neural Network Society, Chair of SPIE Wavelet Conferences 1990-1993,
Editor of Optical Engineering wavelet special issues, September 1992
and June 1994, and Prof. John Villasenor of the UCLA Electrical Engineering
Department.

Participants will learn practical techniques and will have the opportunity
to perform hands-on work on 1 and 2D transforms in an evening computer
lab.
