Announcement: new European Union Network:

HASSIP: Harmonic Analysis and Statistics for Signal and Image Processing

HASSIP is a new Research and Training Network, funded by the European Commission, whose goal is to develop interdisciplinary research and training activities in areas of mathematics and statistics related to signal and image processing.

HASSIP teams:
The HASSIP teams are the following:

Marseille: (
(network co-ordinator)
Laboratoire d'Analyse, Topologie et Probabilités (CNRS and Université de Provence), Signal Processing group; Laboratoire de Mécanique et d'Acoustique (CNRS), Modélisation, Synthèse et Contrôle des Signaux Sonores et Musicaux; Projet METISS, IRISA, INRIA Rennes (France).

Vienna: (
The Numerical Harmonic Analysis Group, at the Mathematics Department, University of Vienna; Institut fur Nachrichtentechnik und Hochfrequenztechnik, Technical University of Vienna; Department of Computer Science, University of Innsbruck (Austria).

Cambridge: (
Signal Processing Laboratory, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge (UK).

Louvain la Neuve: (

Lausanne: (
Biomedical Imaging group, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Laboratoire de Traitement du Signal, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
Communication Technology Laboratory, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich (Switzerland).

Zentrum für Technomathematik, AG Technomathematik, University of Bremen.
Mathematics Department, University of Marburg (Germany).

Munich: (
Institut fur Biomathematik und Biometrie at GSF, Munich (Germany).

Technion Haifa: (
Department of Electrical Engineering, Technion, Haifa.
Department of Electrical Engineering - systems, University of Tel Aviv (Israel).

Besides other actions (conferences, workshops, software development...),

HASSIP will offer job opportunities at post-doctoral level, via European Marie Curie Fellowships.

Post Doc positions available:
Post doc positions will be available, starting October 2002, in most of the HASSIP research groups. Candidates (35 years old at most for post-docs) must be nationals of an EU Member or Associated State, or have resided in the EU for at least five years immediately prior to their selection. In addition, they must not undertake their fellowship in the country of their nationality or recent centre of activity.
