Job: PhD/Postdoc position in the Applied Analysis Group at Univ. Osnabrueck

We are currently offering a

PhD fellowship/ postdoc position
(Salary scale according to 13 TV-L)

in Mathematics at the Chair of Applied Analysis of the University of Osnabrück, Germany, starting from June 1st, 2010.

The employment will be based on the pool of applicants and their respective qualifications, either as a PhD fellowship (50%) or as a postdoc-position (100%) for a period of two years; an extension is possible.

A central theme of the project „Multiscale representation systems for optimally sparse encoding and analysis of geometric features in 3-dimensional signals“, which this position is part of, will be the development, mathematical analysis and computer implementation of multiscale systems for continuum and digital 3D data.

A master degree in mathematics with outstanding grades is expected. There is the possibility for a doctorate or postdoc lecture qualification, respectively. A background in applied and computational harmonic analysis and good programming skills are a must.
