Dear Readers,

The present issue of the Wavelet Digest spans the months of May and June, 2003. You will note that the overall size has decreased even though the activity of and the number of submissions has actually increased. The larger part of the wavelet-related discussions (questions and answers) now takes place in the Wavelet Discussion Forum, which has become very active during the past month (more than 50 items were posted). These two media, of course, are complementary and can cross-reference. The Wavelet Digest will continue to publish information that is of general interest to the community (various announcements such as meetings, reprints, calls for papers, etc.) as it has done for the past eleven years. The Wavelet Discussion Forum, on the other hand, presents an opportunity for waveleteers (scholars and others) who are interested in faster and more direct communication with their colleagues. It is now up to them to make it live long and prosper—any volunteers?

With best regards,
Michael Unser, Editor-in-Chief
